Comment Post #290042 If we merge, which tag should survive? (I added an answer for more visibility, but I also want to make sure you see it since it's related to your answer.)

Comment Post #285322 I agree with this approach. I think voting on it as an answer should give clear-enough indication of community support; while the question and other answers raise a variety of points, this proposed policy is clear and not mingled with other factors.

Comment Post #285317 These are good points, and I agree with Canina's proposed requirements.

Comment Post #285317 If we could agree on "legitimate" I'd be happy with that, but it's inherently subjective so I wondered whether an objective measure would help in the meantime. (I said one *unanswered* at a time, not just one at a time -- incentive to fix a question that isn't currently answerable instead of going o...

Comment Post #284797 Were they? I don't recall the sequence; I know I've seen and downvoted some before I saw this thread, and then a recent batch came in after this thread. I think I would have voted the same way with or without this thread, but of course that's hard to know. I have not downvoted all of them, and I...

Comment Post #284797 I agree with @#36377; pictures that are of "public interest" are different from random pictures of ordinary things like streets or parks.

Comment Post #284797 I hadn't thought about it that way, but I agree with you now that you've characterized it. Asking about a picture you have some *personal investment* in, and can provide at least some context for, is different from finding a picture on the Internet and just asking where it was taken. If a picture f...

Comment Post #280638 Olin, can we talk somewhere a little less public than this meta thread?

Comment Post #280638 I don't think the accusatory tone of the last paragraph is helpful here. I explained in a comment what bumped the post that you asked about. That question linked to a previous meta question, which Charlie answered. I don't see "refusals" here.

Comment Post #279707 On the 2021-01-06 update: there was a new answer (posted that day), which Charlie deleted. (Could be spam; didn't look at the link it was promoting.)

Comment Post #278163 All fixed now. This happened because this site is older than the code that automatically sets up these tags and we didn't catch it. Sorry about the edit history on your question; manual tag creation (outside of use on a question) isn't part of the UI yet.

Comment Post #276511 My posts here are taken at aquariums and thus arguably not "outdoors". I do have some pictures taken at the aquarium in Eilat, where they put the *people* in the tank (in the Red Sea) and let the fish swim around free. But it was 15 years ago with an inexpensive digital camera of that vintage, so.....

Comment Post #275829 SE makes ads available for communities to use as they will. Community votes are supposed to decide which ads are shown. It would be wrong for outsiders who aren't active on the community to try to affect that vote (in either direction), but for communities where people here are or were also active ...

Comment Post #275827 @Olin different sites use ads in different ways. Some promote their own community resources, like a blog or question sandbox. Some promote resources the community considers useful to its own community, like reference libraries and tools. If the community here was founded by the community there, th...

Comment Post #275806 The data import wasn't to give the illusion of anything; it was to allow participants to continue here what they started over there. Each site decides what, if any, content to import from SE (when there's a linked SE community, which there won't always be).

Comment Post #75009 I've seen ready-to-eat chicken in foil pouches, as opposed to cans, at the grocery store. I've never eaten one so I don't know if they're any good, but they're shelf-stable and sized for individual portions.

Comment Post #74990 Thanks for the advice about the pot. The shared tenancy there is temporary (waiting for some more pots to arrive), because the original containers from the nursery were definitely too small.

Comment Post #74762 @Yvette, please make a post tagged "support" and we'll have our database-wrangler look at it. Please include the user ID of the deleted SE account and, err, we'll need to figure out some way to prove it's you and not somebody else coming here and using your name (since authenticating to SE won't wor...

Comment Post #74891 I would imagine this depends a lot on age and history (e.g. a horse that just started biting versus one that has a pattern). But I don't know anything about horses; do those details matter? Should they be in the question?

Comment Post #74869 I suggested putting the title at the bottom for two reasons. First, I've often experienced, and seen signs of it from others, that what you think you're asking morphs as you write the question, so either you go back to fix the title or you end up with a mismatch not infrequently. Second, I had a conv...

Comment Post #74785 There were some hiccups during data import. If you see one of these pairs, you have delete privs, and deleting the extra one won't lose anything (like new answers or edits), please go ahead and delete. I apologize for this and we are working to improve the data-import process for next time.

Comment Post #74777 Oh, I hadn't considered floating devices to attach them to, thanks! Also hadn't thought about helmets. There was a previous kayaking outing (which I wasn't part of) on our local rivers. I assume instruction would be provided.
