403 error on editing a question

+1
−0

If I click on the edit link on a question (e.g., https://outdoors.codidact.com/questions/74859/edit ), I get a 403 page.

This is either a bug (i.e., I should be able to edit) or a feature (I'm not supposed to be able to edit due to low Trust Level).

If it is a bug, please fix.

If it is a feature, far better would be:

a) Gray-out the "edit" link and provide mouseover text of "You must have a higher Trust Level to edit" or similar b) Allow the "edit" link to function but instead of a 403 page, show a page explaining Trust Levels and what I need to do in order to be able to edit.

Unrelated, but noticed now as I'm writing the Meta Question:

  • I think the Title field should be above the Body field when creating a Question.
  • The license selection field should have a link to an explanation. New users, if they aren't certified geeks, will have no idea what this is about and therefore might click it to select a different license and then say "I don't know, whatever" and instead of selecting Site Default instead leave it as an unintended different license.

I suggested putting the title at the bottom for two reasons. First, I've often experienced, and seen signs of it from others, that what you think you're asking morphs as you write the question, so either you go back to fix the title or you end up with a mismatch not infrequently. Second, I had a conversation with an ex-CM at another site who suggested (unprompted) that this was a fairly common issue there. (This person lamented the title being first and I said "well, why does it have to be?")
