Merge imported and new user accounts.

I noticed that some of the posts I wrote on SE Outdoors were imported, apparently to give the illusion of more activity here than there really is. It was a little disconcerting to see that, although I suppose I gave implicit permission for such things when agreeing to SE's license.

However, now there are two separate users here, both with my name, and both linked to content I personally wrote. That's really not good.

I don't know much about web software, but these multiple accounts should be merged somehow. The one I deliberately created here should be the "real" account. Even better, there should be something that allows the merge when you first sign up here. It would be nice to know that your content was copied here before you accidentally bump into it.

Then there is the issue of rep. I noticed my "other" account has a reasonable amount of rep. That's wrong. Rep here should be about positive content created here. The fake accounts shouldn't have any rep, nor should any rep from imported content be added to a real account here when merged.

The data import wasn't to give the illusion of anything; it was to allow participants to continue here what they started over there. Each site decides what, if any, content to import from SE (when there's a linked SE community, which there won't always be).

@Monica: To "continue where you left off", you need a lot more than just a clone of the original site. Data doesn't make a site. It takes a core of dedicated users, and then getting the word out that the new site is a good place to get answers.
