In cities, an issue with geocaching is the accuracy of the GPS - you need to assume a greater margin for error than when you are in the open countryside as tall buildings do affect the signal. Answer A: What can I do about those obnoxious biting flies?
Most folks I know (including the Royal Marines) swear by Avon's Skin So Soft to repel most biting insects - it certainly works well against midges in Scotland. It is also much less harmful to the environment than DEET and leaves your skin extra soft :-)

Question How should I check that the anchor is secure when I anchor a small yacht off unfamiliar land?
When sailing I may anchor in a different bay each evening and take a dinghy in to land to sleep in a tent overnight. I always worry that when I wake up in the morning the boat may no longer be there. Question Is there a straightforward way to calculate energy requirements for a trek
If I know my route will take x days, over terrain y, with a change in height of z, in temperatures of p, is there a simple rule of thumb which will let me calculate food requirements? Water is relatively easy, but I always find myself erring on the side of too much food in my rucksack.
