Answer A: Winter boots for -40°C that are snowshoe and crampon compatible?
I recommend two Canadian brand: Kamik (very low price) and Baffin(low price). Their boots target everyday outdoor worker/farmer/hunter so they know what they are doing. They make solid snow boots. I use them with crampon for ice fishing trips. They feature complete water proof, good insulation, rem...

White tiger you see is not the white tiger subspecies. White tiger are albino Bengal tigers or Siberian tiger just like human have albinism in all races. Answer A: When to kill and bleed a fish
It is better to have an idea what to do with the fish rather than spoil a life. The kill method you mentioned is the ikejime method (). Ikejime is just a fancy Japanese word for sticking a sharp screwdriver to a fish's brain (where it is widely practiced). This method kills the fish humanely, with ...

Answer A: Does less riverside vegetation lead to fewer fish?
I agree with the other guys on the importance of aquatic plants and fish life. However, I would like to present another point: too much weed does not increase fish number/quality in the sense that over flowing weed will take away fish's space, oxygen and vision to lure. Got the first point from a l...

Answer A: Why does my flurocarbon leader keep breaking when tied with a double uni-knot?
I am not an knot expert. What I do know is floro-carbon lines does not handle excessive heat well. In that sense, if you did not wet/lube your line well during the process, your line may get overheated and damaged/warped when you tightening them fast. In addition, fluorocarbon lines don’t...

Answer A: How do locals (short of drilling) determine that lake ice is safe for skating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing?
Aside from all the technical thickness and keeping the "no safe ice" in mind, here is a little "traditional method". I grew up in northern China and now live in Canada. When I am in doubt of ice thickness, I would find a rock, 20-30 lb (not so rounded ones), with edge and toss it far and high. This u...

Answer A: Are these yellow orange hawthorns edible?
IMHO, it looks like typical Eurasia yellow Hawthorn. All hawthorn are edible and they do carry some cyanide in the seed like crab apple. As long as you don't swallow 100 pounds of seeds you should be fine. Found similar tree here: https://www.dreamstime.com/crataegus-yellow-berries-green-leaves-roman...

Answer A: Start a fire with nail clippers?
Nail Clipper file is very likely made of stainless steel, which cannot produce spark. Same analogy in stainless knife vs. carbon steel knife. Even it is high carbon steel under the chrome, you have to break the coating off first (could take forever). You can certainly use the file to scrape ferro-ro...

Question Can I tie down ski/snow board to my roof rack like a canoe?
I have raised cross bar on my SUV roof as the image shows: I also got a couple 15ft. long Thule ratchet straps for tie-down canoes. Now my question is, can I tie down ski and snowboards on the roof without a ski holder? How safe is it on high way? Any good setup examples? Any instruction or tip ...
