Answer A: I have an older shotgun designed for lead shot, can I use steel shot?
In addition, it isn't only the gun itself you should worry about with steel shot. For instance, my turkey plug is only for lead shot. I believe my shotgun can take either, but the specific plug I am using for turkey specifically said no steel. For additional maintenance, I don't think there would ...

Answer A: Rational reason to pick a bow over a gun?
I find bows are more challenging. Plus, in Ohio for whitetail deer, the archery season last from end the of September through February. The gun season lasts only a week and then an extra weekend. So comparatively, there is a lot more time you can spend in the woods if you're an archer. For the pr...

Answer A: Advantages of a (hunting) hat in the woods?
I wear hats and try to cover most of my body when going through thicker brush. I personally don't like when burrs, pricker bushes, or any of the other a-hole plants out there lash out on my head. Similar to what James Jenkins said in his answer, it is illegal in Ohio to hunt over bait unless it has been some period of time. I think it is something like a week or 10 days. That being said, I do know people who readily bait large tracts of their land in order to bring in game. I am talking li...

Answer A: What are the pro and cons of two stage vs single stage triggers for hunting?
I can't say for sure on rifles how well a 2-stage trigger works, but I like it for my revolver. Personal preference for me would be to go to a lighter trigger on a rifle though. This is primarily to reduce the finger squeeze pressure you're exerting to complete the first stage. I feel like that ...

Answer A: What's the best way to avoid slipping on ice?
I find that with icy conditions that you need to change a few things about how you're walking. I used to run on icy trails and snowy conditions and found a few things that helped me not take a spill. Be deliberate with your steps AKA pay attention to what you're doing. I tend to walk more with my ...
