I have travelled 600kms in a single journey with my 18ft sea kayak on the roof using only two centre straps. Bow and stern lines have more chance of causing your kayak serious damage imho. Answer	—	A: Kayaking in the UK For question 3; as a minimum I would carry an epoxy stick, which is a clay/putty like substance which cures very quickly and can be used to fix minor cracks and holes that can be caused by dropping your kayak etc. See: When you ding your plastic kayak, epoxy can patch it for example. Answer	—	A: Preventing hand blisters while paddling I suppose for recreational paddling you could use gloves, but they come at a cost of decreased grip, which translates to less power in stroke and fatigue in hands.
