Answer A: End of Winter/Spring Camping
For a 2 day adventure I wouldn't bring any extra pairs of boots. Just the one wearing. A set of clothes (wearing) and a spare one. Have multiple layers. Answer A: What is a good knife for survival in a forested environment?
How about a multi-tool. I always carry a Leatherman Wave with me. Besides the knife, it also has a serrated knife and a saw. It's small and easy to carry on the belt.

Answer A: Forecasting the weather in the wilderness
I don't believe there's an easy way of doing it. I used to live in a hilly area and was able to forecast the weather based on where the thunder was coming from, the wind, the smell in the air, the type of surrounding light, cloud cover. Since I moved in the mountains, the signs have changed a lot....
