Answer A: What qualities to look for in a good emergency whistle?
Pea vs. Pealess -- In very cold temperatures, pea whistles don't work Volumn -- Louder is better... to a point. My safety whistle has a health warning to not be within 10ft or risk hearing loss. Okay, I'm sure it can be heard for miles but... how do I blow it from 10ft away?

Question Is there a functional safety difference in types of helmets
From a pure safety standpoint is there a functional difference between a climbing helmet, cycling helmet, etc? Is a cycling helmet actually the safest solution for a cyclist, or would the greater coverage of a climbing helmet be better for safety?

Question How to store fuel tablets for travel
I'm looking into using some fuel tablets for cooking with a stove like this esbit as a backup/emergency stove when rafting. However I have heard that the fuel can easily foul food, clothing, etc. What's the recommended way to store and pack the fuel when rafting to help prevent package rupture?

Question Are Personal Flotation Devices a good idea when rafting?
Are Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs/life vests/life jackets) good for rafting? It may seem like a silly question, but I have heard several times now that they increase your danger due to the risk of entanglement.

Answer A: What can I do about those obnoxious biting flies?
