How to improvise or make pot grip / pot handle How do you deal with handling hot pots / cups without using a pot grip (see the picture for an example)? It's inexpensive and rather light-weight, but why add gear if you can use what you already have? :) I've been usually using a small Leatherman and a stick to stabilise the pot, but it's not partic... A: Is "survival" paracord with fire starter strand dangerous Even the “regular” paracord would be set ablaze if you put it close to a fire / heat source :) It’s a nylon / polyester after all… In my opinion, such gimmick paracords are not more dangerous than a normal one. Unless that tinder is a strand of black powder fuse :) UPDATE... (more) |

Say it's winter and 100% overcast with angry cumulus clouds 100% of the time. How much interference / hindrance would that give? NOTE Maybe not everyo... (more) |

A: Most practical knots for hitching a line to an object while keeping the bitter end as tight as possible, without sag? As others have commented, Trucker's Hitch (with an Alpine butterfly) would be the best. Note that it would be enough to do it on one side only; I usually tie an Anchor Hitch at the other side. Another option, when you won't be loading the rope too much, would be to use an Adjustable Midshipman's Hit... (more) |

Could I have problems / obstacles with obtaining petrol / gasoline for a stove I've been thinking for some time to buy a multifuel stove for use in cold and high-altitude camping as compressed gas might be unreliable, and, most importantly, difficult to obtain in remote location. However, I have some doubts from previous experience with petrol / gas stations: they are not happy... (more) |

Question one: Would I be comfortable sleeping in it alone or would... (more) |
