Question Pulling vs. Carrying
I've done a lot of backpacking in my home state of Colorado. My pack and its contents is pretty light but not "ultralight", maybe 20 pounds including food. I'm considering something like these for the Colorado Trail: https://www.competitivecyclist.com/weehoo-igo-cargo-bike-trailer https://www.qui...

Question Getting started fishing
My 15 y/o son has expressed an interest in fishing. He tried it recently using borrowed equipment and would like to get his own. I fished as a teenager and liked it well enough to do it again. Then again, I don't miss it. With that background I am interested in purchasing the basic gear: not so ...

I contacted the manufacturer (Brunton) which responded: "Ex...

Question Why would people descend to sleep while acclimatizing?
I am watching a video about a climb of Annapurna. To acclimate the climbers head up from base camp to another camp higher up, stay for a day or two, then return to base camp. They repeat this process a few times, each time going a little higher. Why the return to base camp? Seems to me that would...

Answer A: Choosing a sleeping pad for camping
For 1lbs 1oz (740g) I'd choose an inflatable pad. Mine is 72"x20"x2.5" and super comfortable. It's also warm because your body is not in contact with the ground. It takes a few minutes to inflate by mouth (it's an "air core", no foam inside) but well worth the time.

Answer A: How can I protect my dog from mosquitos?
I opted for Insect Shield Repellent Bandana. I'd rate it a 3 out of 5 for effectiveness, 5 out of 5 for value.
