Question Why aren't birds using these feeders?
I've been hanging these fat balls for a good while and they're intact. Previously I was hanging a feeder filled with seeds (for birds) in front of the window and that was also intact for a while; so I replaced it with these fat balls. In my previous places of residence that I hung these (not exac...

Question What temperature is needed for heat molding ski boot liners? Isn't body temperature enough for that?
After a season of skiing in rental boots of all sorts, I want to buy my own pair. My options are: a local shop in a country where there's no snow and the prices are so high, online deals that are cheaper, and I could order a few pairs and try them on, keep the best fit, and return the rest. ...

Question What would be the disadvantage of racking trad gear around the shoulders rather than the harness, if any?
At the moment I have a sport harness which is not ideal for trad climbing. I might buy a trad harness for outdoor climbing only, however I for the moment, I've been focused on Grivel Lynx and have been thinking that I can rack my gear on its loops and keep them on it all the time even when climbing. ...

Question What is the difference between a sac liner and a dry bag?
I know dry bags come in different sizes and materials, some being soft and some being rigid and tough. However I've noticed there are items in the market that are exactly the same as a soft dry bag but are called 'sac liner' or 'rucksack liner'. I can't spot any differences as the closure is the same...

Question Would Gorilla Glue Work on Goretex?
Is this waterproof glue effective on Goretex? It mentions 'etceteras' in its label but does it stick Goretex to fabric? The stitching on my boot is ripped. I'm not considering sewing it because the needle would tear the Goretex. I know there are other waterproof glues available but I'm specifica...

Question How can I make sure there are no more ticks around?
I'm back from outdoors and while lying down in bed I noticed a tiny tiny insect walking around on my clothes. While trying to take a picture of it to see if it is a tick, it just disappeared and I cannot find it anymore. In the mean time I checked my body to make sure nothing is there and I found two...

Question Using Gri Gri 2 as a Self Belaying Device
The other day I was so desperate to go climbing, but I couldn't find a partner, so I ended up self belaying after googling and watching this video. I did check Petzl's site to learn that modifying Gri Gri and self belaying using it is prohibited. I'm not a crazy, careless climber and when it comes ...

Question Using Gri Gri 2's Carabiner with Another Belay Device?
I've been using an AustriAlpin autolock carabiner with my Gri Gri 2 for around 9 months, a few times a week (1 to 3 times). It's a very solid, robust and big carabiner, which means that's not too smooth in Gri Gri's hole, but IMHO, it's way far from being retired. I had been told that if a carabiner ...
