Are gardening questions on-topic?

Are questions about gardening on-topic on this site? It's "outdoors", but not the kinds of outdoor activity that most questions seem to be about. I know that over on SE there's another site for gardening, but I wasn't active on either that site or The Great Outdoors over there. Now, however, I'm here and I anticipate having some questions about container gardening, which I am new to. Would those questions be welcome here?

Sorry, but I don't think gardening is a valid topic for Outdoors. On SE there was a separate site for gardening, so the distinction was more clear.

Yes, it is literaly outdoors, but that's not how the site name is intended to be interpreted. "Outdoors" in this sense means more natural, in the wild, away from civilization, not at home, out in nature. It's hard to specify in words. Gardening just doesn't fit in with camping, hiking, hunting, wildlife observation, and the like.

For example, asking about a tomato plant you find while out in the woods could be on topic. Issues with growing your own tomatoes in your back yard is not.

I know it's tough to exclude things on a new site, but this is the important formative time where these things need to be hashed out and lines drawn.

I think so, there isn't another site that would take them instead for one thing and they wouldn't be all that different from existing questions.

Usually, indoor versions of outdoor activities like fly tying or indoor climbing are just as on topic as the outdoor ones.

Also, the original outdoors site suffered from times where people would freak out a bunch of questions on the same subject and try to narrow scope all of sudden and I would prefer not to make the same mistake here.
