Following the footsteps of [user5732's post][1] with the Cub Scout check list, their handbook has some suggestions of projects. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is **soap carving.** Soap is easier to cut through than wood, it's cheap, and it's readily available. The handbook has a template for carving a daschund, but you can pick any object with fairly blocky shapes to start with.
