What are these small plants with red berries at around 9,000 ft in Colorado

3

I found these plants while hiking in Colorado, they are pretty small and have red berries slightly larger than peas. The area was old growth that had been burned in a fire at least a few years ago.

That is almost certainly some variety of wintergreen, likely alpine wintergreen (Gaultheria humifusa). See http://science.halleyhosting.com/nature/cascade/5petal/heath/gaultheria/humifusa.html for photos.
