How difficult is it to cut down a 22lr barrel liner?

+1

I am looking at buying a 22lr barrel liner, but the ones I have found online are longer than I want by about 6 inches.

If I buy one of those, how difficult would it be to cut it shorter and then redo the crown? What type of tools would I need?

Technically, all you need to shorten the liner is a vise and a hacksaw; then you might want to polish the cut surface.

Realistically, you should start with a tutorial like

https://www.brownells.com/userdocs/learn/Inst-143 Barrel Liner.pdf

as the whole process is fairly involved. If this is the first time, you might want to experiment on a rifle you didn't pay much for.
